from Gladys' funeral program :" Gladys was born July 31, 1901 at Granite Falls, MN. She
was baptized
in 1901 at the Granite Falls Lutheran Church and confirmed in 1914 at Fosston, MN. Gladys
spent most
of her life in Granite Falls, except for a brief stay in Fosston and Minneapolis. Gladys was
married to
Ted Hanson in 1922 in Granite Falls. Ted passed away in 1962. She married her widowed
neighbor,
Ben Fredrickson in 1963. Gladys spent the majority of her life as an extraordinary
homemaker. She
comforted and cared for members of her family, decorated her home with flair, and worked in
a variety
of endeavors to help provide for those she loved.
from her grand-niece, Mary Gillespie - "Gladys was a wonderful homemaker, made French
bread from
scratch, cooked delicious meals, sewed curtains and did other crafts for her home. She also
loved to
garden. I'm sure I got my love of decorating from her and her sister (my grandmother) Alma.
She
also had the most wonderful sense of humor which lasted up until her death. She entertained
the
nursing home staff. I hope to keep up some of her tradition as I've purchased the home where
she
lived with her second husband, Ben."
Gladys married1.Ted Hanson1922 in Granite Falls, MN. Ted died 1962 in Granite Falls, MN.
She married Ben Frederickson in 1963. Ben died in 1986.
Other siblings of Gladys are Helmer and Gunda who died young, and Alma, who married
Harold Morrill on Sept 29, 1916. Alma was born September 8, 1893 at Granite Falls, Mn
and died April 22, 1974
Alma was current Holt House owner, Mary Gillespie's, grandmother. Alma was a wonderful
seamstress and home decorator and was a big influence on her granddaughter, Mary, as she
was growing up.
Second Generation
2. Jens Gullickson was born 21 Jun 1866 in Bamle, Norway. He died 12 Nov 1961 in
Granite Falls, MN. He was buried in Granite Falls, MN. He married Marie Moe 1889 in
Norway.
3. Marie Moe was born in Norway. She died 1940.
Third Generation
4. Gullick Havorsonwas born in Norway. He died in Minnesota. He married Anne
Eriksdatter in Norway.
Gullick Halvorson and his wife and some of the children and their families came to the USA in
1891
from Bamble, near Kragero, Telemark, Norway. Gullick's brother, Guttorm Halvorson and
Gullick's son,
Halvor, came to this country before that and encouraged the others to come saying all was
much
better in America and that there was no need to take much with them as more was available
here.
5. Anne Eriksdatter.
6. Gullik Guttormson was born1827 in Norway. He died 1895. He married Aase Marie
Halvorsdtr Halvorsdtr.
7. Aase Marie Halvorsdtr Halvorsdtr was born 16 Jan 1824 in Norway. She died 1899.
