The Andrew J. Volstead house was built in
1878.  When Volstead purhcased it in 1894,
he added the front tower. The House was
Volstead's home from 1894 to 1930.  It was
privately owned until 1974 when it was put
on the national register and named a
National Landmark.. It was made into a
museum by the Minnesota Association of
co-operatives and given to the city of Granite
Falls in 1979.  This year was  the 30 year
anniversary of that dedication and it was
commemorated at an open house and
ceremony on June 28, 2009.

The House is the home of the Granite Falls
Historical Society.  .
