| Nellie's Scottish Tea, November 23, 2008 The Granite Falls Historical Society had its Christmas event at the Volstead House to honor Mrs. Volstead, nee Nellie Gilruth. She was born in Scotland and immigrated at age 15. Guests were members of the Granite Falls Historical Society. Board members each decorated a table and Christmas tree. Guest speaker, Helen Merrill, spoke of her early memories of Andrew J. Volstead. She lived at the Volstead house as a child when he lived next door and they became friends.
